The work of transforming karmic relationship patterns continues for Cancer in 2020. It’s time for making closures and clearing space

We’ve linked Mātāriki with the second New Moon in Cancer because traditionally Māori New Year began with the first New Moon after the helical rising of this unique star cluster. In 2020, Mātāriki will reappear in the heavens between July 13 and July 20. Official Matariki celebrations, however, may be held in June. This constellation is known worldwide as the Seven Sisters and the Pleiades. One of the biggest challenges of future years is getting our worldly and spiritual ambitions aligned. And although the Capricorn Aries seismic shifts are a background presence for most of 2020, generally speaking, this moon month looks more comfortable than the preceding one.

The day after New Moon, the Sun goes into it's warm-hearted and courageous home sign Leo. Mercury makes a third meeting with Vesta on August 3 before going into Leo on the 5th. Concentrated mental focus and communication skills are emphasized, along with a cue to be creative about choosing the thoughts that feel good and uplifting. Practice your inner smile! Venus is in Cancer from August 8 through to September 6, increasing our capacity for love and tenderness, as long as we don't become doormats. Vesta is in Leo from August 11 through to October 22, suggesting a few months of brightly focused creativity and satisfying achievements. Great for those with artistic leanings. Mars conjuncts the shadow mistress Lilith on the12th, then Eris on the 17th, reminding us to breathe through any aggressive tendencies or temper tantrums. Uranus retrograde on the 16th invites us to take inventory of our values and personal resources. What and how can we share? Time to consider too what delights and excites us and where our sense of security comes from. Sun conjunct Mercury on the 18th suggests taking a break from thinking and following the inclinations of the heart for a day or three.
